Leaders
say honor will strengthen UNC
Carolina
Advocates for Honor
The Carolina Advocates for Honor is an organization of students,
faculty, and staff who work together with the campus community in order
to maintain
the culture of honor and integrity we value. Advocates are trained
in leading discussions, providing presentations, answering questions, and
working with interested groups and individuals to help them develop and implement
initiatives designed to make Carolina a national leader in this arena.
Advocates will be selected this fall. Each Advocate is
expected to participate in a half-day training retreat in order to develop
skills in leading group discussions, gain relevant knowledge, critique
resources for outreach activities, and shape outreach strategies and
formats. Advocates are expected to work as part of a two-person team
responsible for a minimum of two outreach activities during the fall
semester (for example, leading a discussion in a residence hall or fraternity;
presentation to a class, student group or academic department; or partnership
with a student organization to develop a related program or activity).
Advocates also assist in training future members of
the group.
Advocates selected for the group need to
commit to full participation in a training retreat scheduled to leadership
of one or more outreach activities during the week of September 20-24.
For further information on the program, contact Stacy Bennett (Honor
System Outreach Coordinator) at 966-4084, stacyb@email.unc.edu.
Advocates
aim to end empathy.
